Upon Iran's request... the United Nations Security Council holds a meeting regarding Israeli strikes on Tehran.

Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, requested in a letter to the 15-member council to hold the meeting, stating that Israel "has crossed all red lines, and the international community should not allow these crimes to pass without punishment."
Araghchi wrote: "Iran reaffirms its inherent right to self-defense as enshrined in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, and will respond firmly and proportionately to these cowardly illegal acts."
Article 51 grants individual or collective rights to states to defend themselves against any armed attack.
Araghchi added: "These heinous acts not only represent a serious violation of Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity as a sovereign member state of the United Nations, but also constitute acts of aggression and war crimes."
