Vietnam has joined the BRICS group as a partner country, according to Fam Tu Hang, Director of the Department of Information and Press at the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This comes in response to Brazil's announcement, the current head of the BRICS group, that Vietnam has obtained the status of a partner country within the group. Hang stated, "Vietnam has become a partner country of the BRICS group with the aim of making an effective contribution to enhancing the voice and role of developing countries, and promoting international solidarity and comprehensive multilateralism based on respect for international law." She emphasized that Vietnam, driven by active, comprehensive, and effective international integration, is making practical contributions to the work of various mechanisms, organizations, and forums, thereby promoting peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world. She added, "Vietnam's accession to the BRICS group confirms our country's consistent foreign policy aimed at independence, self-sufficiency, pluralism, and diversification of foreign relations in order to be a trusted friend, partner, active, and responsible member in the international community."
