The United Nations conference held in Iraq concluded its work today, Saturday, on the Hol camp file in Hasakah province, issuing a set of recommendations aimed at addressing the humanitarian and security crisis associated with the camp, which houses thousands of detainees from multiple nationalities.
The conference called for the expedited and dignified repatriation of nationals, emphasizing the necessity of respecting Syria's sovereignty during the repatriation processes, and avoiding any foreign intervention that affects the Syrian national decision.
The recommendations also stressed the importance of cooperation among member states through the exchange of experiences, study tours, and political consultation, in addition to supporting Syria in developing mechanisms to repatriate its citizens from the camp, ensuring their dignity and safety.
Participants emphasized the need to ensure accountability for perpetrators of crimes against humanity and to provide justice for victims by establishing comprehensive strategies that include prosecution, rehabilitation, and integration, achieving justice and preventing the recurrence of violations.
