Turkey supplies Damascus International Airport with advanced air navigation systems to enhance flight safety

The Turkish Ministry of Transport announced today, Friday, that it has equipped Damascus International Airport with a modern air navigation system that includes an Instrument Landing System (ILS), along with a DVOR/DME system that allows aircraft to accurately determine direction and distance during approach and landing.

This update is an important technical step towards improving operational efficiency and air navigation safety at the airport, especially under changing weather conditions that require precision in directing aircraft.

The new systems will contribute to:
- Facilitating landing operations in difficult weather conditions
- Reducing the rate of human errors in navigation
- Enhancing the airport's ability to receive international flights more efficiently

This step comes within the framework of technical cooperation between Ankara and Damascus in the field of civil aviation, despite political tensions, reflecting the priority of air safety over diplomatic disputes.
