The United States imposed sanctions on 4 judges of the International Criminal Court for their involvement in proceedings targeting crimes in Afghanistan by Washington, and crimes in Gaza by Israel. The sanctions target Judge Solome Balungi Bossa of the Appeals Chamber for issuing an order for the ICC to investigate Americans in Afghanistan. Sanctions were also imposed on Judges Pre-Trial Division Ren Adelheid Sophie Alapini-Gansou and Betty Hoeller. Alapini-Gansou and Hoeller allowed the ICC to issue arrest warrants targeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Ya'akov Galant. The sanctions also affect Judge Luz del Carmen Ibanez Carranza of the Appeals Chamber. Under these sanctions, all assets and interests of the four judges in the United States will be frozen.
