The "A3+" group in the United Nations Security Council has reaffirmed its strong commitment to the unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Syria, considering these principles inviolable and must be respected by all parties, while emphasizing the importance of effective regional measures to de-escalate the situation in the region.

In a statement delivered by Ammar Bin Jamia, the Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations, during a Security Council meeting to discuss the situation in Syria, the group consisting of Algeria, Somalia, Sierra Leone, and Guyana expressed full support for Syria, noting that the ongoing threats by ISIS remain a major concern.

The group also welcomed Syria's first military operation against the organization in Aleppo province, considering it a significant step in combating terrorism, and praised the establishment of special committees for "transitional justice" and "missing persons," viewing them as serious moves towards accountability and national reconciliation.

Furthermore, the group acknowledged the positive progress in the relationship between the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and the Syrian government, highlighting the Director-General's visit to Damascus and the successful visits that included unprecedented cooperation, collection of new samples and documents not previously disclosed.
The group commended Syria's readiness for transparent cooperation, providing offices for the organization in Damascus, and offering full logistical support and necessary technical expertise.

On the economic front, the group welcomed international developments, including the lifting of sanctions on Syria by major international donors, Syria regaining eligibility for loans from global financial institutions after settling its debts in cooperation with regional partners.

Regarding security matters, the "A3+" group expressed grave concern over the escalating Israeli aggression, especially the airstrikes targeting the vicinity of the presidential palace in Damascus on May 2nd, in addition to attacks on Latakia and Tartus.
They strongly condemned these attacks, calling for an "immediate and complete cessation of all violations against Syrian sovereignty."
