President Trump described his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, as "crazy" due to the attacks he is launching on Ukrainian cities, warning that any attempt to fully control Ukraine will lead to Russia's downfall. He stated on his platform "Truth Social" that he used to have a good relationship with Putin, but he has now become completely crazy, adding that Putin wants all of Ukraine, and achieving that would be catastrophic for Russia. Trump expressed his frustration with Putin's targeting of cities and killing of civilians, indicating that he is considering imposing additional sanctions on Russia. The war between Putin, Ukrainian President Zelensky, and former U.S. President Biden was deemed problematic by Trump, stating that Zelensky's statements cause issues and do not serve his country well. Meanwhile, Ukraine witnessed intense Russian aerial attacks resulting in the deaths of at least 13 people, amidst ongoing escalation by Russia launching ballistic missiles and drones on several areas. The Ukrainian forces announced the downing of 45 missiles and 266 Russian drones, noting that 22 areas were affected by the airstrikes. President Zelensky called on the international community to increase pressure on Russia to stop the war, affirming that sanctions would be effective, and urged the United States, Europe, and all peace-seeking countries to push Putin to end the conflict. On the other hand, the EU's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, emphasized the need for stronger international pressure on Russia, while the German Foreign Minister described the attacks as evidence of Putin's desire to continue the war, expressing support for imposing additional sanctions on Russia. In Kyiv, the attacks resulted in the deaths of four people and injuries to dozens, with children killed in northwestern areas of Ukraine, and human losses in other areas like Mykolaiv and Kherson. In Moscow, several airports were temporarily closed, and 12 drones were intercepted, while the Russian army announced neutralizing 110 Ukrainian drones. At the same time, the largest prisoner exchange since the beginning of the conflict continues, with 303 Russian soldiers released in exchange for a similar number of Ukrainian military personnel in the third and final stage of the three-day operation. Trump confirmed his support for the exchange and his desire to push both parties to negotiate an end to the fighting. Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov announced that Moscow is preparing a document outlining comprehensive and long-term agreement terms to be presented to Ukraine, while Kyiv is preparing to present its conditions to end the war. On the frontlines, the Russian army continues its slow advance in some areas despite losses, announcing its control over the village of Romanovka in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.
