Telecommunications Regulatory Authority warns against using "Meta" users' data from Facebook and Instagram for artificial intelligence training.

The National Authority for Information Technology Services, affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Communications, has warned against the company "Meta" using Facebook and Instagram user data immediately to train its artificial intelligence model "Meta AI" without obtaining their prior consent.
The authority urged users who wish to prevent this practice to submit an objection request today before it's too late.
According to "SANA Agency," the authority explained in a statement that Instagram users can object by accessing their profile page, clicking on the settings represented by the three lines at the top right, selecting "Privacy Center" or "Privacy Policy." Then, they should use the browser's search feature by pressing Ctrl + F and typing the word "objection" to reach the "right to object" option, then click on "to object" button and enter their email leaving the text field empty. When asked "Is your inquiry related to artificial intelligence in Meta?" they should choose "Yes" and then "Send."
As for Facebook users, they can follow the same steps after going to their profile page, clicking on settings (profile picture or the three lines), selecting "Settings & Privacy," and then "Privacy Policy."
The authority emphasized that these procedures do not apply to WhatsApp conversations, meaning that users of the application are not required to take any steps to object to the use of their data.
This warning comes as part of the authority's efforts to ensure the privacy protection of users and their data in light of the significant expansion in the use of artificial intelligence technologies.
