U.S. President Donald Trump revealed his role in the attacks carried out by Israel against 'Hezbollah' in Lebanon, including the bombing of pager devices that targeted party members in September 2024, confirming that these operations were conducted in consultation with him and under his direct sponsorship.
In an interview with the British magazine 'Time', Trump explained that Israel would inform him of the details of the operations before they were carried out, saying:
> 'All of those attacks were conducted under my sponsorship and support, and in fact, in direct consultation with me. Israel respected the United States and coordinated with me at every step, and sometimes I would reject some plans, and they respected that.'
Trump criticized his predecessor, former U.S. President Barack Obama, considering that he 'treated Israel very poorly', referring to the Iranian nuclear deal which he described as 'the stupid deal'.
Trump added that his administration 'reshaped the Middle East', pointing out that the region is experiencing relative stability under his leadership, and said:
> 'As long as I am in office, things will only get better and stronger, but after me, I cannot guarantee what will happen.'
Lebanon and Syria witnessed a series of simultaneous bombings on September 17 and 18, 2024, targeting pager devices and wireless communication equipment used by Hezbollah members, resulting in the deaths and injuries of hundreds, including civilians.
The bombings, described as some of the most precise and complex technical operations in the region, caused panic among the residents as they affected residential areas and public facilities.
In November 2024, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged his country's responsibility for the operation, indicating that it targeted communication networks used by the party.
