Tottenham Hotspur, the English club, announced on Friday the departure of their coach, Ange Postecoglou, who led them to win their first major title in 17 years when they were crowned champions of the European football league last month. Tottenham defeated Manchester United in the European league final in Bilbao to secure a spot in the Champions League next season, but poor domestic results cost the 59-year-old Australian his position after two years in charge. The club stated: "The board unanimously concluded that the club's best interests require a change. After a positive start to the 2023-2024 Premier League season, we earned 78 points from the last 66 Premier League matches. This led to our worst finish in the Premier League at the end of the season. "Although winning the European league this season was one of the club's greatest moments, we cannot base our decision on the emotions associated with this victory." Tottenham finished the season in 17th place in the English Premier League.
