Axios reported, citing a U.S. State Department official, that the department ordered, on Monday, the departure of non-essential staff at its embassy in Beirut, along with their family members.
The official explained that this measure is temporary and aims to ensure the safety of personnel, amid an ongoing assessment of the security situation.
The U.S. State Department deemed it wise to reduce the number of its staff in Beirut at this stage, until the security situation becomes clearer.
