A report published by the French newspaper Les Echos states that 2025 is one of the bloodiest years for Russian forces since the start of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

According to the report, Russian losses have surpassed 415,000 soldiers this year, while the territorial advance has not exceeded 0.8% of Ukrainian territory, reflecting a high human cost against limited geographical gains.

The report noted that the intensity of fighting and the continuation of operations on multiple fronts contributed to the rising number of casualties, despite the limited change in the control map of the land.
