The testimony of prisoner Rashdan reveals the suffering of Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli jails

In statements to the Anadolu Agency following his release, Rashdan said that the prisoners were subjected to continuous deprivation of food, medicine, clothing, and cleaning supplies, in addition to daily beatings and assaults, noting that some prisoners were martyred as a result of these practices.
He added that the moment of freedom represents a "great joy" in returning to his family after many years of detention, but he also expressed a "great sorrow" for leaving his comrades behind bars, wishing that they would attain their freedom soon.
Rashdan's testimony comes as part of a series of accounts given by recently released prisoners, which documented difficult humanitarian conditions inside Israeli prisons, amid increasing calls for human rights organizations to take urgent action to hold the occupation accountable for systematic violations.
