The Syrian Artists' Union mourns the Syrian artist Bassam Hassan

The Artists' Union in Syria mourned the esteemed Syrian artist and singer Bassam Hassan, who passed away on Wednesday evening, after a long artistic career during which he left a distinctive mark in the hearts of Syrian and Arab listeners.
The late artist belonged to the generation of authentic classical art, where he believed in meaningful lyrics and pure melodies, and faced with his warm voice and sophisticated music the waves of simplification and superficiality that have swept the musical scene in recent decades.
He began his artistic career in the 1980s and became famous for his distinctive voice and unique presence, before later turning to composing and musical writing, where he wrote and composed a large number of his works, and collaborated with a selection of major composers in Syria and the Arab world, such as Baligh Hamdi, Sid Makawi, Farouk Salama, Samir Helmy, Abdul Fattah Sukkar, Ibrahim Joudat, Amin Al-Khayyat, Radwan Rajab, Majid Zain Al-Abidin, Hussein Zahra, Sadiqi Damascus, Vahi Damergian, and Youssef Al-Ali.
