Saudi Arabia: Red Alert for Residents of Asir Due to Heavy Rain and Dangerous Weather Phenomena

The National Center of Meteorology in Saudi Arabia has issued a red alert covering the Asir region, warning of a wave of heavy to very heavy rain, accompanied by weather phenomena that may pose a risk to public safety.
Hussein Al-Qahtani, the official spokesperson for the center, explained that the rainy conditions will focus on the southern highlands, especially towards the end of the week, urging residents to adhere to the instructions of the relevant authorities and to continuously monitor weather updates.
Al-Qahtani indicated the possibility of flash floods, hail showers, in addition to strong downdraft winds resulting from thunderstorm clouds, which necessitates the utmost caution.
The center also predicted that the regions of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah would experience moderate to heavy thunderstorm rains today (Friday) that could lead to flooding, accompanied by hail showers and active winds.
In the Eastern Province and Medina, hot to very hot weather is expected, with the possibility of thunderstorm clouds accompanied by active winds in parts of both regions, as well as in some areas of Riyadh and Najran.
Based on this information, the center advises everyone to exercise caution and avoid risking their safety in areas where water accumulates or in valleys, in order to protect lives and property.
