A unit of the Syrian Arab Army repelled an infiltration attempt today, Sunday, by a group of elements from the Syrian Democratic Forces "SDF" towards military points in the village of Tal Maaz east of Aleppo Governorate, where the attack was thwarted through a tight ambush that resulted in the capture of several infiltrating elements.
According to a military source quoted by the "SANA" agency, other groups from the "SDF" stationed in the village of Um Tineh and the city of Deir Hafer in the Aleppo countryside targeted the army's positions in Tal Maaz with mortar shells and medium weapons, in an attempt to draw the elements who fell into the ambush.
The source explained that the initial clash began with light weapons, before the pace of shelling escalated from the "SDF" side, prompting army units to respond with heavy weaponry and bring in supporting groups to reinforce defensive positions in the area.
These developments come a day after a security campaign carried out by the "SDF" in the city of Hasakah, which included raids on several neighborhoods and the imposition of a complete curfew, leading to a near-total paralysis of movement within the city and its surroundings.
The eastern rural areas of Aleppo are witnessing escalating field tensions between the Syrian army and the "SDF", amid mutual accusations of violating security understandings and repeated attempts to infiltrate and control strategic points.
