The Kremlin accuses Europe of "obstructing peace efforts" in Ukraine and escalating tensions

The Kremlin accused European countries on Friday of "obstructing peace efforts in Ukraine," at a time when relations between Russia and the European Union and NATO are increasingly tense, especially after Russian drones breached Polish airspace.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated: "The Europeans are obstructing efforts to calm the situation, and this is not hidden from anyone." He added that "Western Europe is taking an aggressive stance towards our country, which leads to heightened emotions."
Peskov also referred to the Western expansion towards Russia's borders, saying: "Europe, as part of NATO, is the one that has moved towards Russia's borders."
These statements came in the context of the Kremlin confirming that negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv are currently halted, despite the existence of communication channels between negotiating groups, according to the Russian news agency TASS.
The spokesman did not hesitate to describe NATO, saying: "NATO is a tool for confrontation, not for peace and stability."
These statements coincide with the European Union summoning the chargé d'affaires at the embassies of Russia and Belarus to the European bloc. The AFP agency reported that this summoning came in the wake of the drone incident in Poland, according to an official representative of the Union.
