12 Pakistani Soldiers Killed in Complex Ambush by Taliban

Security and local sources announced today, Saturday, that at least 12 Pakistani soldiers were killed in an armed attack described as "highly complex" carried out by the Pakistani Taliban in a border area with Afghanistan.
A local official reported that the attack occurred in the early morning hours, saying: "Around 4:00 AM, attackers positioned on both sides of the road opened fire with heavy weapons on an army and border guard convoy, killing 12 security personnel."
For his part, a security official in the area confirmed the death toll, noting that the attackers managed to seize the convoy's weapons. The group officially claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement mentioning that they executed a "highly complex attack" that allowed them to "gain control of ten machine guns and drones."
This attack comes as part of the recurring wave of bloody attacks the country is witnessing, where the group carries out military operations and kidnappings of security personnel, while the Pakistani army responds with military operations resulting in the deaths and injuries of dozens of its members.
