The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced today, Friday, that the Drug Control Branch in Latakia Governorate was able to carry out a qualitative security operation that resulted in the seizure of large quantities of narcotic substances and counterfeit currency, as part of the intensive campaigns to combat drug trafficking and promotion.

According to the official statement, the seized items included:
- 25,000 Captagon pills.
- 15,000 pills with psychological effects.
- 60 bundles of hashish.
- 20 million Syrian pounds in counterfeit currency.

The ministry confirmed that those involved have been arrested and the seized materials have been confiscated according to the law, while investigations continue to uncover the entire network involved in promotion and financing, emphasizing that these operations are part of a comprehensive security strategy to cleanse society of this destructive scourge.

Security sources indicate that the operation came after precise investigations and intelligence monitoring, and that the suspects used advanced means in promotion and counterfeiting, reflecting the evolution of organized crime methods in some areas.

The Drug Control Administration confirmed its commitment to continue its operations without leniency or interruption, calling on citizens to cooperate and report any suspicious activity, as part of enhancing community security.
