The Chargé d'Affaires of the French Embassy: Aleppo Rises from the Ashes of Suffering and Heritage Initiatives Revive Its Old City

In a striking statement via platform (X), the Chargé d'Affaires of the French Embassy in Damascus, Jean-Baptiste Faivre, expressed his impressions after his first visit to the city of Aleppo on Saturday, noting that it is gradually rising from the effects of the suffering it has endured in recent years.

Faivre praised the ongoing initiatives to rebuild the city and revitalize it economically, specifically mentioning the efforts led by the "ALIF" Foundation and the Aga Khan Development Network in rehabilitating the architectural and cultural heritage of the old city of Aleppo, describing this work as wonderful and preserving the unique identity of the place.

He also extended his thanks to the partners of the Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums and local authorities, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in supporting Syrian heritage and enhancing the urban and cultural recovery of historical cities.
