Rev. Joseph Qasab, head of the Supreme Council of the Evangelical Community in Syria and Lebanon, issued a statement condemning the terrorist bombing that targeted St. Elias Church in the Dwelaa neighborhood of Damascus yesterday, describing the incident as a "crime against humanity and the entire nation".

The statement read: "What happened goes beyond being an attack on a church or a component of the country, but rather a crime against humanity and against the entire nation. We unequivocally reject this injustice, condemn it, and urge the Syrian state, with all its institutions, to protect innocent citizens, preserve places of worship, and confront terrorism in all its forms".

Rev. Qasab also expressed his "sincere condolences to the families of the victims", wishing "a speedy recovery to the wounded and injured".

This statement comes in the aftermath of the attack that shook the Syrian capital, sparking widespread condemnation from various religious and national circles.
