The Death of Egyptian Journalist Atef Kamel Due to a Sudden Heart Attack

The prominent Egyptian journalist Atef Kamel passed away on Monday, August 25, due to a sudden heart attack, according to a close source.


Journalist Awatef Abu Saoud mourned her late colleague through her personal account on "Facebook", writing: "Very sad news.. the colleague and great journalist Atef Kamel has passed away. May God have mercy on him and forgive him. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones." No further details were provided regarding the funeral or condolences.


The close source indicated that the death was sudden, amid numerous family crises that the late journalist had been facing in recent days with his ex-wife.


Atef Kamel is considered one of the most prominent faces of Egyptian media, having started his career as a journalist before the esteemed media figure Suhair El Itrebi opened the door to fame for him by nominating him to work at Maspero (the Radio and Television Building). He presented his first program "If We Stop Dreaming" which marked the beginning of a successful journey, including presenting several news programs and the program "Good Morning Egypt" during Dr. Doria Sharaf El Din's tenure as Minister of Information.


Throughout his career, Kamel was greatly influenced by both journalist Mufeed Fawzy and media figure Suhair El Itrebi, who were sources of inspiration and impact in his professional path.
