Sudanese Foreign Ministry: The Foreign Minister's Visit to Washington Aims to Support Peace and Enhance Cooperation

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry announced today, Friday, that the Foreign Minister's visit to the U.S. capital, Washington, comes as part of continuing the political dialogue and supporting peace efforts in Sudan, as well as enhancing bilateral cooperation with the United States.

This visit comes at a time when the country is witnessing military escalation in the city of El Fasher, and intensified international efforts aimed at stopping the war that erupted in April 2023, amid diplomatic moves led by the "International Quartet" (the United States, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt).

The Sudanese minister is expected to participate in a series of indirect meetings between representatives of the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, under the auspices of the U.S. State Department, in preparation for a broader meeting of the Quartet in Washington at the end of this month.
