Santos Fires Coach After Heavy Loss and Neymar Breaks Down in Tears

The Brazilian club Santos fired its coach Kleber Chavie on Monday after a heavy loss to Vasco da Gama with a score of 0-6 on Sunday at home, in a match that saw Neymar leave in tears after the final whistle.
In an official statement from the club: "The club thanks Chavie for his efforts and wishes him success in his professional career," after he took over the responsibility last April, but failed to achieve satisfactory results for the team.
With this heavy defeat, Santos, the home of legends Pelé and Neymar, remains in 15th place out of 20 teams in the Brazilian football league, just two points away from the relegation zone, which exacerbates concerns about its future in the tournament.
Television footage showed Neymar, the former star of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, crying bitterly on the pitch, while a member of the coaching staff tried to console him. Philippe Coutinho, the star of Vasco da Gama, scored two goals, adding to the frustration of the Santos team.
Neymar had returned to his old Brazilian club last January after a disappointing stint with Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, and his contract with Santos was extended last June to keep him with the team until the end of this year.
