Samsung Outperforms Google with Earthquake Alert System for New Galaxy Phones
Samsung, the Korean company, is preparing to launch a new earthquake alert system for Galaxy phones, named "Earthquake warning", which outperforms the current system embedded in Google's Android.
The new system allows users to customize alerts by setting the minimum earthquake strength they want to receive alerts for, starting from 1.0 magnitude where the vibration is barely noticeable, up to 4.0 magnitudes indicating strong and clear shakes.

Additionally, the system allows for customizing alerts based on time, so users can set separate alerts for daytime and nighttime to avoid disturbance during sleep or rest times.
Furthermore, users can choose to receive alerts for earthquakes weaker than the set threshold, giving them full control over the type of alerts they receive.

The system also includes smart features such as a log that keeps all previous alerts for reference, guidance to nearby emergency shelters, and an option to specify emergency contacts to be automatically notified upon an earthquake, enhancing user safety.

It is expected that this new system will be launched with the "One UI 8" user interface update, to provide Galaxy phone users with a better and more precise earthquake alert experience, strengthening Samsung's competitive position in the smartphone market.
