Rubio warns of the implications of recognizing the State of Palestine on peace efforts in Gaza

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said today, Thursday, that the United States has informed other countries that recognizing the State of Palestine could lead to more "problems".
Rubio added, from Quito where he met with his Ecuadorian counterpart and President Daniel Noboa: "We told all these countries that if they recognize a Palestinian state, it could create problems and would not have a real impact."
He warned that any potential recognition from some Western countries of Palestine could lead to countermeasures from Israel and complicate efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He added: "There will be a reaction, and it will make it difficult to reach a ceasefire, and it could lead to some kind of actions that you have seen, or at least attempts," in an implicit reference to Israel's efforts to annex the West Bank.
