In a surprising development that caused a stir in the sports community, media outlets close to the management of the Spanish club Real Madrid continued their attack on the Brazilian star Vinicius Junior after negotiations to renew his contract with the royal club stumbled, accusing him of "selling the club" for money.
According to the Spanish newspaper "Defensa Central," the 25-year-old Vinicius requested to raise his annual salary from 20 to 30 million euros to agree to extend his contract until 2030.
While the player was initially satisfied with his current salary, his stance suddenly changed, angering the club's management, which considered that he sold Real Madrid for 50 million euros.
The management firmly rejected Vinicius' demands, affirming to his representatives that no one is above the club, even if they are among its top stars.
The management emphasized that the French striker Kylian Mbappe is currently the highest-paid player, and there is no intention to equate any player with him.
Sources within the club explained that Real Madrid has always dealt firmly with players' financial demands, pointing to past experiences of top stars whose careers ended away from the "Santiago Bernabeu" after financial disputes.
On the other hand, Florentino Perez's management is concerned that these demands may be the beginning of a calculated plan by the player to leave for free after a year and a half, at the end of his contract in the summer of 2027, to receive a huge signing bonus from another club. This pushes the club to try to settle the issue early before it turns into a crisis that affects the team's stability.
It is worth mentioning that Vinicius joined Real Madrid in May 2017 from Flamengo in Brazil for 45 million euros and extended his contract in October 2023 to continue until the summer of 2027.
