The Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, affirmed today, Thursday, that lifting the American sanctions on Syria is a correct step forward.
The Qatari Prime Minister added in an interview with the American news network "CNN": "The Syrian people deserve to live a dignified life, and the sanctions were primarily imposed on the Assad regime due to its behavior towards its people. If the sanctions remain as they are, how can we help the Syrian people change their situation and overcome the consequences of the wars they have been through in recent years? Therefore, we believe that lifting the sanctions is the right step forward."
He continued: "We must support the stability of Syria, and what we have heard and seen so far has been accurate."
He also called for "participating constructively and striving to help alleviate the situation in Syria, ensuring that we work with them step by step," emphasizing that "this is the only way that allows us the opportunity to improve and stabilize the situation in Syria."
