Putin: Uranium resources may be depleted by 2090 or even earlier

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned of the possibility of global uranium resources being depleted by 2090, noting that this scenario could occur sooner, during the 2060s of this century.
Putin said during his speech at the international forum "Corn Week" held in Moscow: "According to estimates by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, all uranium resources could be depleted by 2090 in the optimistic scenario, which is equivalent to about 8 million tons, but in reality, this could happen much faster, perhaps in the 2060s of this century. This means that it could happen right before our eyes."
The Russian president confirmed that his country has unique experience in all stages of developing and building nuclear power plants, stating: "Russia alone today has extensive experience in the entire chain of building nuclear power plants."
The international forum "Corn Week" continues from September 25 to 28 in the Russian capital, marking the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the nuclear industry in Russia, bringing together international experts to discuss the future of atomic energy and the challenges associated with it.
