Putin announces a three-day ceasefire in the war on Ukraine to mark the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II.

According to the Kremlin, the ceasefire will start from the 8th to the 10th of May, when Putin will host international leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend massive celebrations commemorating the victory over Nazi Germany.
The statement read, "All military operations will be suspended during this period. Russia believes that the Ukrainian side should follow suit."
It added, "In case of any violations by the Ukrainian side, the Russian armed forces will respond appropriately and effectively."
There has been no comment yet from Kyiv on the one-sided ceasefire announcement, the second of its kind declared by Putin in a short period. Putin had previously announced a 30-hour ceasefire on Easter, but both sides exchanged accusations of violations repeatedly.
