The Turkish presidency reported today, Friday, that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, during which they discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as the deteriorating situation in the Gaza Strip.
During the call, Erdogan expressed Turkey's welcome for peace initiatives, emphasizing that the success of these efforts requires halting the Israeli attack on Gaza, according to what the "Reuters" agency reported from Turkish official sources.
The Turkish president also stressed that his country has accelerated its diplomatic communications aimed at achieving peace in the region, amid rising humanitarian and political tensions in the sector.
This call comes at a time when international efforts to stop the escalation in Gaza are intensifying, amid increasing calls for a ceasefire and the activation of political initiatives.
