In a sudden escalation, Real Madrid has halted negotiations with the Brazilian star Vinicius Junior, after the latter demanded a salary equal to what the new French arrival Kylian Mbappe earns, a move deemed unacceptable by the club's management.
Spanish radio station "Cadena Ser" revealed yesterday, Sunday, that Vinicius insisted on equaling his salary with Mbappe, who earns 31.5 million euros annually, compared to just 21 million for the Brazilian star.
This angered club president Florentino Perez, who sternly replied: "Forget it, or leave the club".
Negotiations between the two parties were progressing smoothly, having previously agreed to place Vinicius as the second-highest paid player in the team, through variable performance-based incentives.
However, the player changed his stance and rejected this proposal, insisting on the highest salary similar to his French teammate.
In response to this stubbornness, Perez instructed to halt the renewal process, and even began seriously considering selling Vinicius' contract, which expires in the summer of 2027.
This decision opens the door to Perez's bigger dream: forming a fiery attacking duo with Mbappe and the Norwegian star Erling Haaland.
It is worth mentioning that Mbappe joined Real Madrid on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last year, and he receives the highest salary in the team, creating a significant gap between him and the rest of the players in terms of wages.
Will Vinicius leave? Will we see Haaland in the Merengues' shirt soon? The coming weeks may hold decisive answers.
