Palestinian Prime Minister: The government is ready to take on its responsibilities in Gaza with a welcome for international efforts

In light of the Palestinian welcome for international efforts to stop the war, Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammad Mustafa, confirmed the State of Palestine's welcome for international endeavors aimed at halting the war and achieving peace, affirming his government's readiness "to assume all its national responsibilities, whether in immediate relief or in recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, or in continuing the comprehensive national reforms that have been implemented for some time."
This came in the context of statements following the White House's release last night of details of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan for Gaza, which consists of 20 points, primarily stipulating an immediate end to the war if both parties to the conflict (Israel and Hamas) agree, and that the Gaza Strip should be "demilitarized and governed by a Palestinian committee with international experts, without any role for Hamas."
For his part, U.S. Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, clarified that "the proposal still needs some details," while expressing optimism "for its success this time, as it is supported by Arab and European backing," according to his statement.
Additionally, Mustafa emphasized "the continued work to unify national institutions and applicable laws, translating all efforts into tangible reality, and enhancing security and stability."
The Prime Minister indicated that "the historic New York Declaration in September, along with the increasing recognitions of the State of Palestine and the subsequent international plans and efforts to end the war are data that must be built upon."
Mustafa viewed that all these efforts come "to prevent displacement and annexation and to confront attempts to undermine the Palestinian National Authority, and to solidify the path to establishing an independent Palestinian state and achieving the aspirations of the Palestinian people for freedom and independence."
It is noteworthy that negotiations regarding a ceasefire in the devastated Palestinian sector have continued intermittently over the past two years without yielding results, while Israel continued its bombardment of Gaza amidst a complete siege, and the repeated displacement of Palestinians.
These statements come in the wake of Belgium, Britain, Canada, Australia, and Portugal officially recognizing the State of Palestine last week, in a move that marked a historic shift in the policy of these traditionally allied countries to Israel.
