Discussions between the Syrian Minister of Transport and his Austrian counterpart on enhancing cooperation in transportation projects and infrastructure.

The Syrian Minister of Transport, Dr. Yarob Badr, met today, Sunday, June 15, with a delegation from the Austrian Arab Chamber of Commerce led by Luay Kzabri, the Chamber's President, in the presence of its Secretary-General Muder Al Khawja, at the ministry building in Damascus. During the meeting, ways to enhance the partnership between Syria and Austria in the transportation sector were discussed, as well as expanding investment opportunities in priority projects.
Dr. Badr emphasized the importance of "exchanging experiences and modern technologies in the field of transportation," pointing out "promising investment opportunities in Syria, especially in railway projects, infrastructure modernization, and enhancing sustainable transportation."
He also mentioned the possibility of "comprehensively updating the study of the railway project linking Damascus and Amman," given its strategic importance in connecting Syria with Jordan and neighboring countries, and enhancing regional trade and transit.
The two sides also discussed cooperation in training and capacity building, especially in "governance and modern project management," along with mechanisms for implementing major projects, focusing on "sustainable transportation concepts and environmentally friendly practices."
Transport Minister highlighted that the Syrian government gives "great importance to developing the transportation system and integrating it into regional and international networks," expressing the ministry's readiness to provide "necessary facilitations for Austrian and Arab companies interested in investing in the Syrian market."
On his part, Luay Kzabri expressed the Austrian Arab Chamber of Commerce's desire to "deepen economic cooperation with Syria," confirming Austria's interest in participating in transportation and infrastructure projects, and providing training opportunities in modern management areas.
Kzabri also praised the "potential of the Syrian transportation sector," considering this meeting as a "starting point for long-term cooperation between businessmen in both countries."
This meeting is part of efforts to strengthen Syrian-Austrian economic relations, open new horizons for investment in vital sectors, especially transportation, which is a fundamental pillar in the process of reconstruction and sustainable development in Syria.
The meeting was attended by the Assistant Minister of Transport for Land Transport Affairs, Mohammad Rahal, the Minister's Office Director Abdul Aziz Mustafa, and the official responsible for international cooperation, Iyad Al Asaad.
