Qatar and France reaffirmed their joint commitment to enhancing humanitarian aid, supporting economic development, and reconstruction in Syria during the "Third Annual Strategic Dialogue," as part of their efforts to achieve comprehensive stability in the country.

This came during the sessions held in the French capital, Paris, on the 12th of this month, chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, and Jean-Yves Le Drian, French Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Both sides acknowledged the "historical transitional process underway in Syria," emphasizing the "importance of a comprehensive political arrangement that protects the rights of all Syrians." They also reiterated their support for rebuilding a "new, free, stable, and sovereign Syria that respects all components of society."

The joint statement pointed out that "stability and security in Syria are of utmost importance to all its citizens and the surrounding region," expressing their welcome for the lifting of international sanctions imposed on the Syrian economy and encouraging foreign investments that contribute to the country's recovery.

In this context, Qatar welcomed French support for the recent European Union decision to lift economic sanctions on Syria, and praised the meeting between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.

The statement concluded by emphasizing that "this support and international initiatives will enable Syria and its people to transition towards stability, peace, and prosperity."
