Netanyahu Meets with the Head of Egyptian Intelligence to Discuss Trump's Plan Regarding Gaza

The office of the Israeli Prime Minister announced that Benjamin Netanyahu and his security team held a meeting in Jerusalem with the head of the Egyptian General Intelligence, Major General Hassan Rashad, to discuss developments related to U.S. President Donald Trump's plan regarding the Gaza Strip, as well as to discuss bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation between Cairo and Tel Aviv.
The statement clarified that the meeting also addressed regional issues of mutual interest, including enhancing peace efforts and following up on the mechanisms for implementing proposed initiatives to halt escalation in Gaza.
Visit to Discuss Aid and Trump's Proposal
The Cairo News Channel reported that Major General Rashad will discuss with Israeli officials the mechanisms for the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, and work to overcome obstacles to implementing Trump's proposal that was recently presented at the Sharm El Sheikh International Peace Conference, in the presence of the U.S. President.
Egypt was one of the key mediators that contributed to reaching an agreement to stop the war in Gaza, and is currently seeking to solidify this agreement in coordination with the Israeli side and U.S. envoy Steve Wietkoff, who is visiting the region to discuss the next practical steps.
Egyptian Move in the Security Council
In this context, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty revealed in statements to The National that Cairo is working to issue an urgent resolution from the United Nations Security Council to establish a peacekeeping force in the Gaza Strip.
Abdel Aty explained that the mission of the force would be to support the Palestinians in managing their own affairs, emphasizing that Egypt is ready to participate in this effort "in all possible forms," provided that it is done under a clear mandate from the Security Council that precisely defines roles and standards.
