Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced yesterday his readiness to temporarily halt the ceasefire in Gaza to ensure the release of the detainees there, stating that 20 of them are still alive "for sure."
He said in a press conference: "If there is an option for a temporary ceasefire to release the prisoners, we will be ready for that," adding:
"There are 20 prisoners who are definitely alive."
In addition, he announced that Israel would be ready to stop the war in Gaza if all detainees are released, weapons are removed from the sector, and Hamas leaves Gaza.
He also mentioned that Israel may have killed Hamas leader Mohammed Deif.
He also announced that the Israeli army will take control of the "entire Gaza Strip" after the end of the attack, emphasizing that "all areas of the Gaza Strip will be under Israeli security control." He added: "We will strike Hamas strongly and violently in Gaza... and our forces will expand further in Gaza."
He pointed out that Israel must "avoid a humanitarian crisis" in Gaza "to preserve freedom of movement," adding:
"We will allow the entry of basic aid to Gaza... and we have developed a plan in 3 stages to distribute basic aid in Gaza." He confirmed that "American companies will distribute aid in Gaza under Israeli supervision."
