NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed his full support for the U.S. military operation against Iran, named “Operation Epic Fury,” led by U.S. President Donald Trump, in an interview with Fox News aired on Monday.
Stoltenberg described Trump as the “Commander-in-Chief and Leader of the Free World,” appreciating the progress of the operations and considering the “removal” of Ali Khamenei and the destruction of Iran's nuclear capabilities and ballistic missile program a crucial step to enhance security.
He noted that over the weekend he had communications with several European leaders, confirming the existence of “broad support” for the U.S. action, pointing out that European countries are contributing to logistical support and protecting U.S. strategic interests in Europe and the region.
These statements come amid the ongoing military operation targeting Iranian leaders, nuclear facilities, and ballistic missile sites, with Stoltenberg clarifying that the campaign is still in its early stages and may extend for days or weeks.
Trump had phone calls with leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, in addition to the NATO Secretary General, as part of simultaneous diplomatic and military moves following the launch of operations.
