In a shocking incident that shook the Egyptian street, investigations revealed an unprecedented scandal inside a morgue in Aswan Governorate, where the morgue worker turned the place into a den for dancing, drinking alcohol, and sorcery, in a scene closer to horror movies. Investigations conducted by the Administrative Prosecution Office in Aswan uncovered that the worker kept bottles of alcoholic beverages inside the mortuary refrigerators, held dance parties, allowed people to spend the night among the corpses while drinking alcohol. The matter did not stop there; he was involved in stealing belongings of the deceased, and opened the morgue doors to charlatans and sorcerers to view the bodies in exchange for money. In one instance, the worker stole a gold earring from an unidentified girl's body, and received money from the deceased's families in exchange for services that were supposed to be provided for free. More dangerously, he allowed the practice of occult rituals and sorcery inside the morgue, permitting women to enter the place and charging them money to perform rituals that supposedly help them conceive, using legitimate washing tools for this purpose! The investigations also revealed serious violations, as the worker allowed a person to wash and shroud the body of a deceased person who was killed in a crime before the prosecution's decision was issued, and asked a volunteer to inject a woman's body with a drug he claimed was formalin, a substance that should only be used under medical supervision and strict procedures. He also allowed two citizens to view a body inside the refrigerator without permission from the public prosecution. The worker was not alone in the circle of accusation, as the investigations revealed the involvement of current and former supervisors in collecting illegal financial and in-kind donations from the deceased's families, as well as two other supervisors directing security guards to collect money from the families, with some of them embezzling these funds. In light of this scandal, the Administrative Prosecution decided to refer all the accused to urgent disciplinary trial, awaiting the outcome of the investigations into this crime that has exceeded all limits.
