Morocco crowned champion of the 2025 Youth World Cup after defeating Argentina

In an unprecedented historic achievement, the Moroccan national team was crowned champion of the Under-20 Youth World Cup after its well-deserved victory over its Argentine counterpart with a score of two goals to none, in the final match held on Monday morning at the "National Julio Martínez Pradanos" stadium in the Chilean capital, Santiago.
Portuguese Famaliçao striker Yasser Zebiri scored both goals of the match in the 12th and 29th minutes, raising his tally to five goals in the tournament, and sharing the top scorer list with American Benjamin Cremaschi, Colombian Niser Villarreal, and French Luka Michal.
This victory is the first of its kind in Morocco's history in the Youth World Cup, as the national team had never reached the final before, with its best previous results being reaching the semifinals in the 2005 edition held in the Netherlands.
With this victory, the "Atlas Cubs" denied the Argentine team the opportunity to enhance its record and win the seventh title in its history, adding them to their list of victims from major global teams during the tournament, which included eliminating prestigious teams such as:
• Spain, the champion of the 1999 edition
• Brazil, the second most successful team with the title (5 times) in the group stage
• South Korea in the Round of 16
• The United States in the quarter-finals
• France, the champion of 2013, in the semifinals
• And finally, Argentina in the final.
* A historic achievement and a world record
This victory not only brought the cup to Morocco but also granted the team a world record as the first Arab and African team to eliminate six teams from the elite of world football in a single edition of the tournament.
This victory confirms the rise of a new golden generation in Moroccan football, promising a bright future at the youth level, and reflects the development of the Moroccan football structure, which has become comparable to the major countries in this field.
