The area of the Red Corner in Cairo experienced hours of fear and confusion after a "minibus" with passengers slipped into a deep pit reaching about 6 meters, amid extensive security mobilization to rescue those trapped.

Details of the Incident

The Cairo Security Directorate's Operations Room received a report indicating that the bus fell into an area designated for construction work on Manshiyat al-Jamal Street, beneath the Red Corner Bridge. Immediately, rescue teams, supported by ambulances and heavy cranes, headed to the scene of the accident.

Rescue Efforts

Initial examinations showed that the vehicle slipped into a pit designated for utility work, resulting in 5 people being trapped at the bottom. Rescue personnel made strenuous efforts to extract them using ropes and hydraulic ladders, taking utmost care to avoid any additional soil collapses that could worsen the situation.

Controlling the Situation

Security forces imposed a security cordon around the accident site to facilitate rescue operations. The rescue teams managed to retrieve all those trapped and transport them to nearby hospitals for treatment, while the relevant authorities conducted an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident and examine the availability of safety measures at the work site.
