Minister of Emergencies and Disasters Raed Al-Saleh confirmed that the Syrian Civil Defense teams responded during the Eid Al-Adha holiday to 786 emergency medical cases, 217 fires, 45 car accidents, in addition to 4 water rescue operations. In a tweet on the "X" platform, Minister Al-Saleh stated that the number of casualties from the car accidents responded to by search and rescue teams during the holiday period reached 3 civilians, with 75 others injured. Al-Saleh pointed out that from the beginning of the year until the end of May, the Syrian Civil Defense teams responded to 1008 car accidents that occurred in all Syrian regions, resulting in the death of 61 civilians, including 3 children and 5 women, and injuring 911 others, including 169 children and 110 women. The Minister said: "These numbers highlight the urgent need to intensify cooperation with relevant ministries and authorities," emphasizing that there is currently coordination with the Ministry of Information to launch traffic awareness campaigns, and with the Ministry of Transport to share studies prepared by the Civil Defense teams on the causes of accidents and their concentrated locations. This is aimed at reaching data-driven solutions to reduce human losses, enhance public safety, raise awareness among civilians about the dangers of swimming in water bodies, rivers, and lakes, and adhere to maximum security and safety measures to reduce drowning incidents, which tragically affect dozens of families during the summer season.
