The Syrian American Council announced today, Thursday, the imminent introduction of a bill in Congress to repeal the "Caesar Act" with the support of both the Republican and Democratic parties. According to the council, the effects of the law are currently frozen for only six months, with a constant need for the U.S. administration to renew the exemption every six months because the administration is legally unable to do more than that. The council mentioned that only Congress has the authority to nullify the sanctions it has imposed. It added: "Therefore, we had to act in Congress to attract supporters from both parties for this project." The council also expressed gratitude to Congressman Joe Wilson for sponsoring this project.
