Medvedev responds to Zelensky's threats: Weapons that shelters cannot protect against

The intensity of the debate between Moscow and Kyiv has escalated following statements by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who hinted that Russian officials should prepare to hide in shelters if the war does not stop.

Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev responded sharply via the "X" platform, asserting that Russia possesses military capabilities that shelters cannot protect against, while warning that the United States should take this into account.

These statements by Zelensky came after his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, where he revealed that he requested advanced weapons for his country that would force Moscow to sit at the negotiating table.

He also emphasized that U.S. support includes targeting strategic sites within Russia, such as energy facilities and arms factories, while confirming that civilians would not be among the targets.

This verbal exchange reflects a new escalation in the war of words between the two sides, indicating that the conflict is no longer confined to the military field alone, but has extended to direct political messages carrying mutual threats, complicating the international scene and narrowing the prospects for settlement.
