French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed today, Thursday, that the United States has shown a clear stance regarding its desire to engage in providing security guarantees for Ukraine, noting that coordination between Paris and Washington is moving towards completing practical steps in this matter.
In statements made to reporters after his meeting with representatives of the "Alliance of the Willing" supporting Ukraine, Macron clarified that the United States has actively participated in all preparatory work over the past weeks, reflecting its support and readiness to contribute to formulating the security guarantees, stating: "There is no doubt about this."
The French president added that this position had previously been explicitly announced, including by former U.S. President Donald Trump, noting that the next phase will witness the completion of the details of cooperation and coordination with Washington in this context.
Macron's statements come amid ongoing European efforts to secure long-term international support for Ukraine, amid the continuation of the war and the increasing need for security arrangements that ensure the country's stability after the conflict.
