London: Arrests Among Pro-Palestine Protesters Days After Manchester Attack

The Metropolitan Police announced that they had arrested dozens of participants in Trafalgar Square after they raised banners bearing slogans in support of the movement, which was banned last summer under anti-terrorism laws after its members stormed an airbase and caused damage to military aircraft.
The protesters, who gathered in the hundreds in central London, chanted slogans against the police, while others applauded the detainees as they were led away. In a separate incident, six other people were arrested after raising a banner for the movement on Westminster Bridge opposite the Parliament building.
For his part, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called for calm via the platform "X", emphasizing that "this is a moment of mourning and not a time to inflame tensions," referring to the feelings of the Jewish community after the Manchester attack, which was carried out by a British youth of Syrian descent, and authorities suspect he adopted extremist ideas.
These developments come at a time when the British police are intensifying their security measures around Jewish places of worship and mosques, amid fears of rising sectarian tensions.
