Syrian Airlines announced the launch of its first direct flight from Damascus International Airport to Istanbul Airport today, Tuesday, June 10, as part of enhancing the air links between Syria and Turkey and facilitating passenger movement between the two countries.
According to an official statement issued by the company, the first flight will depart from Damascus at 17:30 and arrive in Istanbul at 19:30 (local time), providing passengers with direct flights without layovers.
This step comes after Syrian Airlines obtained official approval from the Turkish General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM) to operate regular flights between the two countries, as reported by the specialized aviation news platform "AirportHaber."
It is worth noting that Istanbul Airport is preparing to welcome the first flight with a special ceremony, celebrating the resumption of direct flights between the two cities.
