Kaja Kallas: We did not agree on the twentieth package of sanctions against Russia

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said on Monday that member states were unable to reach an agreement on the twentieth package of sanctions imposed on Russia.

She added that diplomacy remains the best path, but after a year of discussions, no tangible progress has been made towards a ceasefire in Ukraine.

Kallas pointed to the decision to reduce the number of Russian diplomatic mission staff in Brussels, emphasizing efforts to prevent Russian soldiers from entering EU member states.

She concluded by stating that Ukraine is paying the price for what she described as Russia's miscalculations, considering that Moscow has failed to achieve its strategic goals.
