In a series of controversial statements, Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen attacked today, Sunday, the decision of Britain, Canada, and Australia to officially recognize the State of Palestine, describing the step as "support for terrorism and a reward for Hamas for the atrocities of October 7," referring to the attack launched by the movement on Israel last year.
The minister stated that the Palestinian state that the West seeks to recognize "will fall under the control of Hamas and Iran, which will bring destruction to the Palestinians themselves as happened in Gaza," adding that "the statements of hypocritical Western leaders will change nothing, and we will not accept a Palestinian state that threatens Israel's security."
These statements come after an official announcement from the Prime Ministers of Britain, Canada, and Australia, in which they confirmed that recognizing the State of Palestine aims to revive the two-state solution, ceasefire in Gaza, and release the hostages, amid increasing international calls to end the war and achieve a fair settlement.
