The newspaper "Al-Sharq Al-Awsat" quoted an unnamed Palestinian source as saying that Damascus authorities continue to monitor the activities of Palestinian factions in Syria, after their work was limited to humanitarian and relief efforts, indicating that leaders of factions that supported the ousted president, Bashar al-Assad, have been summoned for questioning. According to the newspaper, Syrian authorities summoned Mohammad Qais, the Secretary-General of the "Al-Saika" organization, the military wing of the Palestinian "Baath" party, and interrogated him for several hours without disclosing the content of the interrogation, adding that this was not the first time Qais had been summoned and questioned. The source described the Syrian security authorities' monitoring of Palestinian factions' activities as being conducted with "high precision," explaining that meetings with Abu Abdul Rahman al-Shami, appointed by the Syrian leadership to manage the file of Palestinian factions, are held continuously with representatives of those factions. Al-Shami held several meetings with faction representatives, during which he discussed the status, activities, weapons, properties, and camps of these factions on Syrian territory.
